Teacher Training: Oysters
Placed-based learning with local research for teachers of grades 3-12.
Oysters will serve as a vehicle to explore adaptations, life cycles, food webs, estuary ecology, human uses and impact, and science practices. Course content and activities align with grade 3-12 Massachusetts State Science Technology and Engineering Standards.
Participants will:
- Visit the oyster aquaculture research site and dissect an oyster with the Town of Falmouth MES Shellfish Department.
- Make observations, collect and analyze data, and learn about the research project from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and Stonehill College scientists.
- Learn about additional oyster educational resources from Waquoit Bay Reserve educators.

Oyster Syllabus 2019
Cost – $ 25.00 - includes lunch on August 8 and dinner on November 12, and equipment and/or books for your classroom. (Must attend both sessions.)
