Edible Plant Talk

Cape Cod is home to over 100 species of edible wild plants, and over a dozen species of edible wild mushrooms. Russ Cohen, author of the book Wild Plants I Have Known…and Eaten, for a 90-minute PowerPoint presentation that will cover over two dozen of the tastiest species the Cape has to offer.  These include species everyone knows well, like Daisies and Dandelions, to species folks may not have even heard of, like Calamus and Carrion Flower. Keys to the identification of each species will be provided, along with info on edible portion(s), season(s) of availability and preparation methods, as well as guidelines for safe, ethical and environmentally-responsible foraging. Last but not least, Russ will accompany his talk with printed handouts as well as samples of foraged goodies made with wild edibles for folks to sip and nibble on.
