Cape Cod Field Adventures

Take a step beyond the conference sessions and experience Cape Cod’s ecological restoration and resiliency efforts firsthand. These optional field trips offer a rare opportunity to see the tangible results of years of planning, collaboration, and innovative conservation work. Attendees will drive themselves from Hyannis to the field locations. Participants may select one field trip during registration; however, space is limited.
Sandy Neck Beach Long-Term Coastal Resiliency Project, West Barnstable
Step behind the scenes at Sandy Neck Beach Park, Barnstable’s only public beach on Cape Cod Bay. Learn how the Town is strengthening vital infrastructure against coastal flooding while balancing public access with the protection of rare and sensitive coastal habitats.
The Coonamessett River Wetlands Restoration Project, Falmouth
Walk accessible trails and boardwalks to learn how Falmouth’s restoration supports fish passage, wildlife habitat, and community engagement. Gain unique insights into the process, challenges, and lessons learned from this transformative river and wetland project.
Hinckleys Pond Herring River Headwaters Eco-Restoration Project, Harwich
Experience the restored Hinckleys Pond Preserve, where 30 acres of former cranberry bogs have been transformed to restore passage for wildlife, like fish and river otters. Discover how the project strengthens community connections to nature, with a new pond overlook, a mile-long All Persons Trail, and a link to the Cape Cod Trail.
